Felix Uwitonze

A the Social Developemnt & Policy Blog team member, Felix Uwitonze is a PhD candidate in Development Studies at the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with a Master of Arts in Development Studies from Mount Kenya University and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Communication from the University of Rwanda. His research focuses on street youth rehabilitation, youth employment, vulnerable youth and children, and transitions to adulthood.

Felix has published in reputableacademic journals, including The Tanzania Journal of Development Studies and the Development Policy and Management Review, with ongoing research on rehabilitation programs and self-reliance among former street youth in Rwanda.
He has extensive experience in social safeguards, community engagement, and urban development, having worked as a Social Safeguards Specialist for the City of Kigali and previously managing rehabilitation programs for vulnerable youth.

Felix is an active member of the International Research Network on Transitions to Adulthood from Care (INTRAC) and has received research grants from the British Institute in Eastern Africa
(BIEA). His work aims to bridge policy gaps in street youth rehabilitation and contribute to sustainable reintegration strategies.
